Eric Silver, M.D., attended medical school in his hometown of London, England. He came to the United States in 1974 and completed his OB/GYN residency at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Prior to joining the St. Mary’s Women’s Center, Dr. Silver was a partner with Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates, Inc. in Fairfield, Ohio, for 30 years. He is Board Certified as a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists.

Dr. Silver specializes in all aspects of women’s health care including menopause, sexual dysfunction, and gynecologic procedures. He strives to provide women a supportive and friendly atmosphere for their health care needs throughout their lives.

His passion is in being a partner to, and advocate for, his patients in all aspects of their overall health care.  During his leisure time, Dr. Silver enjoys golf and traveling, as well as spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Khan Pohlel, MD earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2001. He completed his internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine concluding in 2008. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University also. Prior to joining Piedmont Athens Regional, Dr. Pohlel was in practice with Athens Cardiology Group.

Dr. Pohlel is board certified in cardiology, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology and endovascular medicine. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.  In his spare time, Dr. Pohlel enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters involved in outdoor activities including hiking, golf, fishing and hunting. Dr. Pohlel welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.

Jeetendra Patel, M.D. received his medical degree from Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College in India. He went on to complete his residency at Monmouth Medical Center and his post-doctoral research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He finished his general and interventional cardiology fellowship from the University of Utah. Dr. Patel has published several scholarly articles in medical journals. He holds board certifications in internal medicine, general cardiology and interventional cardiology.

Dr. Patel specializes in interventional cardiology and treats patients with a wide variety of cardiac problems. He has a special interest in treating coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, PFO/ASD closures and valvular heart disease.

In his spare time, Dr. Patel enjoys hiking and traveling.

Andrew J.P. Klein, M.D., FACC, FSCAI, earned his bachelor’s degree from University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in internal medicine at University of California San Francisco. He then completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at University of Colorado Health Sciences and a fellowship in clinical research at the University of Wisconsin.

Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Klein was in practice at the John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis where he served as the Director of Cardiovascular Disease Research and the Director of the Endovascular Laboratory. While there, he was named for the last 3 years as one of St. Louis’s Top Doctors by Saint Louis Magazine. Board certified in endovascular medicine, vascular medicine, interventional cardiology and cardiovascular diseases and internal medicine, Dr. Klein is an fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention.(SCAI). An expert in complex coronary and peripheral intervention, he is a member of several SCAI committees.

In his spare time, Dr. Klein enjoys spending time with family, including his spouse Christina Klein, M.D., who is a transplant physician at Piedmont, and their two beautiful children. Dr. Klein is an avid exercise fanatic having run several marathons and triathlons. He is also an outdoor enthusiast having backpacked across Joshua Tree National Park and summited Half Dome with Christina when they were residents together at UCSF. The entire Klein family are skiers and look forward to returning each year to the mountains for moguls, deep powder and glade skiing. Dr. Klein welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.

Dr. Griffis earned his medical degree from Medical College of Georgia in 1999. He completed his internal medicine residency, cardiology fellowship, and interventional cardiology fellowship  at The University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. He received his undergraduate degree from Duke Univeristy. Dr. Griffis is board certified in Interventional Cardiology and he is also a Fellow of The American College of Cardiology. Dr. Deering graduated summa cum laude from the Yale University School of Medicine in 1980. He completed his medical and cardiac electrophysiology training at Yale and Tufts New England Medical Center. After serving as an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Yale between 1986 and 1989 he moved to Atlanta and joined the staff of Piedmont Hospital, where he has practiced since that time. Dr. Deering is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians and the Heart Rhythm Society. Dr. Deering has participated in a number of arrhythmia research trials and remains active in cardiac arrhythmia research. He serves as a reviewer for several major cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology journals. He has authored or co-authored numerous articles on a variety of arrhythmia-related topics. He has served as a speaker and moderator at many national and international cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology meetings. He is an active member of the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS); has served on a number of HRS committees and task forces; and presently serves as chair of the HRS Membership Committee.

Dr. Deering’s primary area of interest is centered upon the diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmias and the treatment and education of patients with cardiac arrhythmias and congestive heart failure. He currently is in practice with the Piedmont Heart Institute Physicians group and based at the Piedmont Hospital campus. He does see patients in a number of arrhythmia outreach clinics at several additional Piedmont Heart Institute locations.

Dr. Peter Chapman

MD, FACC

Dr. Peter Chapman has been practicing cardiology and electrophysiology for more than 20 years. He is experienced in all areas including cardiac arrhythmia ablation and management of atrial fibrillation. At Lake County Medical Group, he assesses patients’ needs for curative ablation, defibrillators and pacemakers. His expertise in arrhythmia management coupled with his use of the most modern tools equips him to provide patients with a thorough assessment of electrical problems of the heart.

Dr. Chapman performs electrophysiology studies and tilt table tests for the assessment of fainting and dizziness symptoms. Additionally, he implants permanent pacemakers and defibrillators.

Dr. Chapman is credited with implanting the first transvenous defibrillator in the world in 1987. He also performed the first radio frequency ablation procedure and the first sterotaxis procedure in Wisconsin. Additionally, he has authored or co-authored more than 90 scientific publications.

Dr. Chapman received his medical degree from the State University of New York in Syracuse, NY. He graduated first in his class, Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI and his fellowship in cardiology/electrophysiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI.

Dr. Chapman is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and electrophysiology. He is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society and the American College of Cardiology.
